This funding supports Tribal Historic Preservation Offices to carry out historic preservation activities on tribal lands as outlined in the National Historic Preservation Act. Funded activities include identification, evaluation, protection of historic properties, technical assistance, physical preservation, federal review, education, and listing in historic registers. Grants assist tribes in assuming preservation responsibilities from State Historic Preservation Offices under partnership agreements.
Eligible applicants are federally recognized Native American tribal governments.
