The Excellence Strategy funds German universities and university consortia to strengthen scientific excellence and institutional profiles. It supports internationally competitive research fields via Clusters of Excellence and long-term institutional development through Universities of Excellence. The program aims to enhance Germany's position in global science and research with increased funding from 2026.
