This grant supports financial assistance to enhance distance learning and telemedicine services in rural areas. It funds the use of telecommunications-enabled information, audio and video equipment, and related advanced technologies to increase access to education, training, and healthcare resources for rural students, teachers, medical professionals, and residents.
Eligible applicants include county, state, city, and tribal governments; small businesses; higher education institutions; nonprofits; and special district governments. Both for-profit and nonprofit organizations may apply under specified categories.
