The Basic Center Program funds community-based programs that provide temporary emergency shelter, counseling, food, clothing, and healthcare referrals to runaway and homeless youth under 18. It supports up to 21 days of shelter and aims to reunite youth with families or find suitable alternative placements. Priority is given to public and non-profit agencies experienced in serving this vulnerable population.
Eligible applicants include public and non-profit private agencies, coordinated networks, state and local governments, tribal governments, nonprofits, and certain educational institutions. For-profit organizations and individuals are not eligible.
