This initiative funds projects addressing major environmental challenges in the Great Lakes ecosystem by supporting long-term habitat protection, restoration, or enhancement. Funded activities must align with GLRI Action Plan IV and bird conservation plans, focusing on wetlands, grasslands, and forests within the Great Lakes coastal zone. Projects should leverage science and decision tools to benefit native fish and migratory bird populations.
Eligible applicants include nonprofits (with or without 501(c)(3) status), public and private institutions of higher education, various government entities including county, city, tribal, and state governments, special districts, independent school districts, and public housing authorities. For-prof
