This opportunity funds demonstration projects that apply automation, robotics, and AI technologies in factory-built housing to accelerate home construction, reduce costs, and increase housing supply. Projects should focus on scalable solutions such as panelized systems, modular, or volumetric homes, showing measurable improvements in speed, labor efficiency, quality, or cost. Active HUD involvement and adherence to Gold Standard Science principles are required.
Eligible applicants include nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status (excluding higher education), for-profit organizations (excluding small businesses), private and public institutions of higher education, small businesses, and nonprofits without 501(c)(3) status (excluding higher education).
