This program provides grants to institutions of higher education or consortia to teach languages critical to U.S. national security and economic prosperity. It funds instruction in strategic languages and regions, supports research and training in international studies, and advances national security interests by focusing on critical global regions such as Latin America, Europe, Eurasia, Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
