Supports archival projects that significantly improve online public discovery and use of historical records collections. Funded activities include preservation, processing, digitization, rehousing, and creating online finding aids. Priority is given to projects focused on America's early legal records and histories of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. Projects must promote understanding of U.S. democracy, history, and culture and engage the public through civic education.
Eligible applicants include U.S. nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, state or local government agencies, and federally-acknowledged or state-recognized Native American tribes or groups. Applications must demonstrate archival best practices and appropriate staffing.
