This program funds lead agencies and universities in U.S. coastal states and territories to conduct land acquisition, construction, and planning projects that strengthen protection of estuarine reserves. Projects support boundary expansions, facility improvements, and monitoring infrastructure to meet research and education objectives. Funding caps apply, and project durations range from 12 to 36 months, with extensions possible for complex construction.
Eligible applicants are lead state agencies or universities designated to receive NERRS operations funding through a Memorandum of Understanding with NOAA in coastal states and territories.
