The John Lewis NIMHD Research Endowment Program supports eligible higher education institutions in enhancing their research infrastructure and training capacity to advance health disparities research. Funding covers improvements to physical infrastructure, acquisition of research equipment, development of technical expertise, expansion of academic science programs, and recruitment of accomplished researchers. Direct research projects are not funded. Applications are by limited competition and peer-reviewed for merit.
Eligible applicants are public and private institutions of higher education with current or former HRSA or NIMHD Centers of Excellence awards. Institutions must have endowments at or below 50% of the national median for similar biomedical research institutions.
