This program provides approximately $175 million in loan and grant funds to eligible rural electric cooperatives for projects deploying advanced, efficient transmission infrastructure and nuclear power supply. The goal is to achieve net emission reductions, improve grid reliability, and ensure affordability in rural electric systems. Awardees must provide at least 25% equity and comply with eligibility and application requirements.
Eligible applicants include operating electric cooperatives under specific IRS codes that have been RUS loan borrowers, cooperatives serving predominantly rural areas (at least 50% rural territory), and their wholly or jointly owned subsidiaries.
