Supports planning grants to help Virginia non-entitlement local governments develop clear strategies addressing community development needs. Two grant types include Activation Planning Grants, which use public input to identify priority needs, and Project-Driven Planning Grants, which enhance readiness of identified projects. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed monthly.
Only non-entitlement units of local government in Virginia are eligible to apply. These governments may contract with Planning District Commissions, nonprofits, or other entities to carry out project activities.
