This funding supports multi-benefit projects that improve watershed health, enhance wildfire resilience, restore chaparral and forest habitats, and develop workforce capacity. Projects may conserve land, reduce flood and fire risks, improve water quality, protect wildlife habitats, remove invasive species, and promote cultural and tribal preservation within the San Diego River and adjacent watersheds. Public access improvements to trails, parks, and recreational facilities are also funded.
Eligible applicants include nonprofits, public agencies, and tribal governments. Projects must be located within the San Diego River Watershed or Sweetwater, Otay, and Tijuana Rivers Watersheds.
