Provides technical and financial assistance to local agencies for constructing water recycling projects that promote beneficial use of treated municipal wastewater. Eligible projects include treatment, storage, distribution, groundwater recharge, indirect potable reuse, and surface water augmentation. Funding covers construction costs only; operation and maintenance costs are ineligible. All community types in California, including disadvantaged communities, are eligible.
Eligible applicants include local public agencies, 501(c)(3) nonprofits qualified in California, public utilities, federally and non-federally recognized Native American tribes on the Native American Heritage Commission’s list, and mutual water companies.
