This grant supports multinational, interdisciplinary research collaborations addressing undiagnosed rare genetic and complex rare non-genetic diseases. Funded projects focus on variant classification, multi-omics methods, novel tools, systems biology, integration of clinical and environmental data, and advanced AI modeling. Exclusions apply to pre-clinical therapy, clinical trials, certain diseases, and basic biomedical research for Irish applicants. Funding covers personnel, equipment, data costs, dissemination, and overheads, with specific restrictions.
Open to HRB Host Institutions in Ireland excluding Northern Ireland. Only transnational projects are eligible. Irish partners cannot use HRB funding for basic biomedical research, embryo research, or if funded by tobacco/alcohol industries.
