The Northern Fund provides up to $2.5 million in research infrastructure funding to eligible Northern Canadian institutions and organizations. It supports projects across all disciplines that engage and serve Northern communities, including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit groups. The fund aims to enhance research capacity, foster community-led projects, and generate social, cultural, health, environmental, or economic benefits in the North over five years.
Eligible applicants are Canadian universities, colleges, research hospitals, and non-profit research institutions headquartered in Northern Canada regions recognized by the fund. Individual researchers are not eligible.
