FRIPRO supports curiosity-driven and bold research projects in all research areas, aiming to advance the state-of-the-art. It funds both basic and applied research led by experienced scientists. The program encourages high-risk projects without requiring societal impact and prioritizes excellence in research quality. Applications must meet a high peer review threshold and priority is given to underrepresented genders when assessments are equal.
Only approved Norwegian research organisations are eligible to apply for funding. The call targets experienced scientists affiliated with these organisations.
