ETH Grants provide competitive seed funding for ETH Zurich researchers pursuing highly creative, original, and high-risk research projects. Funding supports innovative doctoral projects and interdisciplinary collaborations aiming to generate fundamental new knowledge or technologies. Projects can last up to 4 years with funding up to CHF 350,000 for Single-PI and CHF 1,000,000 for Collaborative Grants. Eligibility requires active substantial peer-reviewed external grants or exceptions for new professors.
Applicants must be employed by ETH Zurich for the entire project duration and generally hold at least one active substantial peer-reviewed external grant. Only one application per call is allowed per PI. Exceptions exist for newly arrived professors.
