The Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program funds one-on-one, in-person apprenticeships between master artists and apprentices in Maine. It supports diverse traditional arts such as basketmaking, dance, fashion, and drumming. Funding of up to $3,000 covers teaching fees, supplies, and travel for apprenticeships lasting up to one year, fostering cultural continuity and creative transmission across generations.
Traditional artists and their apprentices in Maine who are committed to a particular traditional art form are eligible to apply together for up to one year of apprenticeship funding.
