The John G. Bene Fellowship funds Canadian master’s and doctoral students conducting practical field research on gender-responsive integrated forest, landscape, and food systems restoration and management in developing countries. It emphasizes nature-based solutions that drive transformative change for smallholder farmers, youth, women, and Indigenous communities, excluding genomics and genetic modification research. Proposals aligned with post-fire forest and food restoration initiatives are encouraged.
Open to Canadians and permanent residents pursuing master’s or doctoral studies at Canadian universities. Research must be conducted in one or more Global South countries and focus on relevant themes excluding genomics or genetic modification.
