This program funds bi-national doctoral degrees through two models: the sandwich model with dual supervision and the Cotutelle model awarding joint degrees. It supports research stays in Germany from 7 to 24 months, providing monthly payments, travel and insurance allowances, and additional support for longer stays. Selection is based on qualifications, project quality, and applicant potential.
Applicants must have a Master's or equivalent degree for the sandwich model or be admitted to a doctoral program for the Cotutelle model by the funding start date. Eligibility requires enrollment at both home and German institutions.
