The AI Compute Challenge funds commercially viable AI data centre projects that strengthen Canada's AI ecosystem by expanding AI compute capacity, offering affordable compute to Canadian firms, anchoring Canadian AI champions, and using sustainable energy and Canadian-made AI hardware or software. Projects must be ready for immediate commercial deployment and demonstrate significant Canadian industry participation and co-investment.
Eligible applicants include Canadian commercial entities, industry consortia, or industry-academic partnerships with meaningful Canadian industry participation. Projects must be commercially viable AI compute infrastructure initiatives with significant provincial or territorial co-investment.
