The MA3 Challenge funds U.S.-based accredited colleges and universities to develop and implement transformative strategies for academic hiring, review, promotion, and tenure (RPT) processes. Projects should focus on explicit policy and process changes that foster collaborative, transparent research environments. Awardees engage in a community of practice and must emphasize implementation beyond planning, with no more than half the award used for planning activities.
Eligible applicants are U.S.-based accredited, tax-exempt colleges and universities. Principal investigators must be members of the administration team or leaders working closely with administrators to advance modernization efforts in academic appointment and advancement.
