The First and Last Mile Fund supports invitation-only strategic infrastructure projects that unlock Canadian critical mineral supply chains. It funds mine-enabling infrastructure, processing and midstream facilities, and transportation links such as roads, rail, and power. Projects must advance first-mile or last-mile infrastructure tied to critical minerals deposits or value chains in Canada, with Indigenous engagement and capacity-building prioritized. Funding commitments extend through 2030.
Eligible recipients are identified by the Government of Canada and include provincial/territorial governments, Indigenous nations and communities, and project proponents. Projects must be located in Canada and demonstrate strategic importance to critical minerals supply chains.
