This grant supports owners and operators of marginal conventional oil and gas wells in Texas to permanently plug and abandon wells producing low volumes or idle. The program aims to reduce methane and hazardous air pollutant emissions, improve air quality, and reduce environmental risks. Eligible wells must meet production thresholds, be accessible without new road construction, and methane detection is required for funded wells.
Eligible applicants include individuals, corporations, or any legal entity owning or operating marginal conventional wells in Texas. Wells must meet production limits, have a known operator, be on non-federal land, not previously plugged, and accessible via existing roads.
