These grants support projects that partner archaeologists with local Jordanian communities to protect and preserve archaeological sites, starting with Madaba Plains Project sites. Funded activities include training site stewards, community outreach, engaging local school children, developing income projects, and archaeological restoration. Projects must involve local authorities and be affiliated with ASOR. Funds cover direct expenses only, emphasizing community benefit and capacity building.
Applications must be submitted by directors or senior staff of ASOR-affiliated projects, with endorsement letters if not by directors. Preference is given to projects not receiving ASOR Project Grants in the past three years.
