The IDEA program funds early-stage, high-risk, high-payoff research projects focused on highways, transit, and railroad safety and performance. It supports investigator-driven innovations at critical early stages, fostering collaboration and seeding further innovation and commercialization. Proposals are reviewed annually and the program welcomes applicants worldwide, including foreign nationals.
Open to all applicants including foreign nationals living and working outside the U.S. No restrictions on nationality or location of researchers.
