Rubicon Fellowships enable MIT faculty to host fellows from the Netherlands who pursue their own defined research projects without overlapping ongoing non-federally sponsored research. The sending institution covers research costs and overhead, and IP created is jointly owned by MIT and the sending institution. Hosting requires negotiation and adherence to specific MIT policies, including special proposal routing and possible financial clawback provisions.
Eligibility requires MIT faculty to host fellows from the Netherlands with independent projects. The sending institution must pay a bench fee and accept joint IP ownership terms.
