This program funds education in nuclear science and engineering to build a workforce capable of supporting nuclear facility design, operation, and regulation. Scholarships and fellowships are awarded to accredited U.S. institutions, with recipients required to demonstrate academic progress and commit to nuclear-related employment for 6 months per year of support. Employment may be with NRC, government agencies, DOE labs, industry, or academia. Waivers may be granted in special cases.
Only accredited U.S. institutions of higher education may apply. Individual students cannot apply directly. Recipients must demonstrate satisfactory academic progress and commit to nuclear-related employment after support.
