This program provides financial incentives to farmers and landowners to plant streamside buffers including forest and grass buffers on farmland. Payments cover installation costs, tree bonuses, and maintenance for up to five years. Contracts are 5 or 10 years, with planting required within one year. Eligible lands include cropland adjacent to streams or ditches with specific soil conditions. Applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis.
Eligible applicants are farmers and landowners managing eligible lands with an active lease if applicable. Applicants must be in good standing with USDA and state programs and submit a Nutrient Management Plan Certification.
