This funding supports multidisciplinary research projects investigating conversational chatbot technologies in healthcare. Topics include chatbot safety benchmarking, AI transparency, misinformation mitigation, mental health and substance use interventions, cancer care support, clinical integration, and responsible AI frameworks aligned with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR.
Eligible applicants are U.S.-based small business concerns organized for profit with 500 or fewer employees, majority U.S. ownership, and a U.S. place of business. Foreign entities are not eligible.
