This grant opportunity provides $50 million to State agencies administering the National School Lunch Program to fund equipment upgrades in school cafeterias. The funding supports purchasing cold storage, cooking equipment, and other tools to help schools serve more whole, nutrient-dense foods like fruits, vegetables, protein, whole grains, and dairy. State agencies will competitively award subgrants to local education agencies and schools to modernize kitchens, improve meal quality, and enhance operational efficiency, especially in underserved and rural communities.
Eligible applicants are the 54 State agencies that administer the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). In states with multiple agencies, only the primary NSLP State agency serving the majority of school food authorities may apply.
