This competitive grant supports collaborative, science-based restoration projects on rural non-industrial private and state/local government forest lands. Projects should reduce wildfire risk, improve fish and wildlife habitats, maintain or improve water quality and watershed function, and mitigate invasive plants, insects, and disease. Funding ranges from $100,000 to $600,000 with a required 1:1 non-Federal cost share. State Forester sponsorship is required except for federally recognized Tribes.
Eligible applicants include state, county, city, and special district governments; public and private higher education institutions; federally recognized and other Native American tribal governments and organizations; and nonprofits. Federally recognized Tribes have a separate NOFO option.
